Taking a Step into the 21st Century
Part of the modernization of the medical practice has been the digitization of various bits of paperwork, or EMR / EHR (Electronic Health Records.) The benefits of having this are manifold. Instead of having to sort through archives just to find one patient’s history, one need only type in their name and wait a short while – and that’s not counting the cost saved by not having those archives on site. Moreover, should one’s records be with another group, it’s trivial to send those records over in regards to both time and money. It’s also easier to communicate with pharmacies should they find an issue, and also easier to make a simple prescription. All this contributes to have more accurate, up to date records which reduces incidents that may happen due to clerical errors. Let’s face it – the electronic revolution has made overwhelming benefits happen to everyone’s lives, and medicine is not exempt from this.
